Dougie's Diary

May

Blair castle, seven miles from Pitlochry, is the seat of the Duke of Atholl, chief of clan Murray. It is here in late May, on the Saturday before the Blair Atholl Highland Games, that the Duke and his officers review his private army, the Atholl Highlanders. The army parades in front of the castle to the sound of their pipes and drums, the finale being the firing of the great black powder cannon.
